Get My Look: Natural Face, '70s Inspired

Hey beauty loves! I wanted to share a recent photo of me rocking a more natural look. You know how I adore statement eyeshadow, but I also like to keep things simple and neat.

To find out what I used:

When I was a little girl I wanted to look older. Now that I'm in my twenties, each year I pray that Father Time will let my look slip by unscathed by the hands of time. In doing this, I gather tips and tricks from the most gorgeous celebrities I can.

Here is a photo of one of my favorite desperate housewives, Teri Hatcher. I can still remember the days when she used to play Lois Lane on the television version of "Superman." In my opinion, Teri has aged beautifully. For a woman of her age, she still looks hip and hot. However, these two photos below are meant to show Teri when her look makes her appear unintentionally older, and when her look clearly makes her appear younger. Can you tell which is which?

If you think the first photo doesn't do Teri justice, then you agree with me. There's something about the wild, dark hair and dark makeup that ages this sultry star. The photo on the right appears to have the opposite effect. Teri goes light on the makeup, and even on her hair, and she looks glowing.

The Trick to Wide Eyes and Fanned-Out Lashes

Last Saturday, I was lucky to be able to take a Master Class with M.A.C cosmetics! I got to learn so many cool tips, one of which I'm going to share with my favorite beauty lovers (You) right now.

Who doesn't love beautiful long, individually separated, lashes? I know I do. Well, there's an easy way to apply mascara for a wide-eyed long-lashed look, and I bet you'll never forget it once you know what it is.

Rave Fave: Bronzer

Pale girls like me want color, and tan girls yearn for a warm glow, too. I've bounced around with bronzers ever since middle school; I've liked some, hated many. I think it can be hard to find the perfect bronzer unless you really know what you're looking for. When I streak my cheeks, sometimes I like a more natural look that appears less orange and not too shimmery. Other times, I don't mind shimmer. This is not one of those times.

Finally, in my old age (ha!) I've found a matte bronzer that helps me to contour my cheeks and give them a healthy looking glow. For a photo of me wearing Hoola bronzer by Benefit to emphasize my cheekbones:

Get My Look: Pop O' Green

So, I tried something new last night. Before going out to celebrate with friends, I wanted to create a fun shadow look. I believe that makeup is a great way to experiment with color and technique. I was pretty impressed with the way the green shadow didn't clash with my green eyes.
