1 Year Anniversary!!
That's right, today marks my 1year Natural Hair Anniversary since I BC'd!! The time has went by sooo fast. I wanted to share a few pics of my hair from this past year.
This is my first Braid Out My first Bantu Knot My first Wash and Go
While Transitioning Out after my BC After my BC
11.28.2009
My Hair 1 Year Later (11.28.2010)
It's funny how time passes!
While on this 1year journey I have learned so much. Like heat may not always be your friend. Moisturizing is your best friend. You can never over deep condition. Just because your ends look dry doesn't mean they need to be trimmed, they could just need more moisture.
Though this first year has had it's up and downs, I feel that I have definitely made the right decision in going natural. I can't wait until my two year.

Turkey Hair!
During this time of the year many people travel to visit family. For many of us naturals, this will be the first time our family and friends will see our hair "Natural." For me this was the case. My husband and I traveled to see some of our family, so I wanted to make sure I looked fly. Not really knowing what to do with my hair I came up with a really cute look.
Since the heat damage situation, I've been wearing my hair in a lot of braid outs. This was the case for me this week. So with my four day braid out I swept my hair over to the right side and did a small pom adore in the front; and of course I rocked one of our hair flowers. With five family houses later, this quick and cute hair style held up pretty well.

Mini Braids!! New Video!!
From time to time we like to give our hair a rest. Many like to do twist or mini twist which last longer than regular twist along with the versatility of different styles. But instead of mini twist have you ever thought about mini braids? Here is Nerddyful showing how she achieved her cute style.

Winter Hair!!
For some of us natural heads winter has fallen upon us. There is so many information out there for taking care of our natural curls, but, at the end of the day you have to do what is right for you and your hair. These are a few quick tips of ways that have helped me take care of my hair during the winter months.
Moisturize
We read this and hear this all of the time from most naturals. However, moisturizing ones curls during the winter months are essential. Keeping our curls moisturized helps our hair from drying out from the cold weather. It also helps our scalp to replenish the oils that it loses during this time of the year.
In the winter our scalp makes less oil, which in turn leaves our hair drier. Some ways to add moisture to your hair is by deep conditioning regularly (I do not recommend using a protein deep conditioner every week this is because too much protein to the hair can cause breakage. Protein treatment should be used no more than twice a month and less if not at all if you Henna).
Also, hot oil treatments are great for your hair and scalp. Do not feel that you have to use the pre-made oil treatments from your local beauty supply store. Feel free to explore new oils and use what you know your hair likes. My hair loves olive oil and castor oil. So once a month I do a hot oil treatment using those oils.
Massage Your Scalp
Massaging the scalp is great way to stimulate the natural oil our scalp produces and it also feels good! I like to massage my scalp before I wash my hair and after I wash (or co-wash) my hair right after I apply my oils to my scalp. I also do this throughout the week while I spray my homemade spritzer onto my hair.
During those cold winter nights have your significant have a part and allow them to rub their hands in your hair and massage your scalp. Not only will it benefit your scalp and hair it can also start up something else ;0)
Seal Your Ends
This is very easy to do and you can use your favorite sealer. I like using Shea butter.
Use Creamy Shampoos and Conditioners
Using creamier based products like shampoos and conditions allow the hair to soak up more moisture. This season I changed co-washing my hair from Suave Professionals to Aussie Moist. I love this stuff!! It’s really creamy and I can feel a difference when I co-wash my hair during the winter.
That is it for me. Some say they like to do protective styles and others like to line their hats and hoods with silk and other people do different things, but as for me these are some of the most essential things to consider when caring for your hair in the winter.
What are some of your winter hair care secrets?

Hello, it's been awhile
Anyway, I'm going to sleep soon. I think I will have more time to update after classes are done or if my work hours shorten (not really going to happen any time soon). Please bare with me if I hardly update. For those who work, go to school & blog -- seriously how do you find the time??? And not lose sleep? Everytime I force myself to stay up to do something, I feel that it affects me negatively and I'm not myself from lack of sleep. Hmm maybe I need vitamins..
Oh, andthanks to The Ordinary Gal for this lovely blog award here: click. It's wonderful, thanks so much.
Ok gals.. sorry to cut this short, but I have to sleep. Ahh... Until next time! :) I miss you all!
