Last Sunday I had a lovely family 'reunion' lunch with my Dad, who had flown from Perth to visit for the Australia Day long weekend. I always look forward to seeing the photos that my Nanna brings to every social gathering. Most of the time the photographs consist of various cruises, holidays and parties she has attending recently, but this time was a little different. Among the shots of fancy restaurants and her many friends were re-prints of some very old photographs she has still managed to keep from her childhood. I think they are so beautiful, with most of them taken in Sweden, as that is where my Dad's side of the family originally hails from.
Please do not steal/share/reprint or use these images in any way, commercial or otherwise.

Be Mine?
This year I am back to creating fridge magnets using an assortment of vintage cards and I thought to myself, what better way to celebrate a cheesey holiday with than with the cheesiest gift possible for your loved one? Therefore, the Vintage Valentine Magnet Sets were born. If all goes well, these will be on sale very shortly in my Etsy store. I'll post back to let you know when they are listed. If you would like to be privy to the behind-the-scenes happenings of my label, pop on over to my other blog: www.pannikin-accessories.blogspot.com

Alec Eiffel
Today I ran riot in Ikea with Henry and one of his new housemates, Riley. I kept filling the trolley with cool things I thought I wanted then putting them back in incorrect places along the way. What I ended up with was a mini ironing board (not that remarkable to some, but a godsend when your bedroom has about 3 square feet of available floorspace and you like to iron-as-you-go when sewing) and a plump little rat named Alec Eiffel.
Here we are on the drive home:
Like me, he enjoys mini road trips but gets a little car sick if he reads too much or watches the lines on the road whiz past.
What was the last thing you found at Ikea?

"Go Tell Ricky Scrotum"
This past Saturday, I had the pleasure to doll up my sweet friend Jackie Buscarino for her movie premiere "Go Tell Ricky Scrotum." It was so much fun getting ready. We even had some extra time for a short photo session. Special thanks to Junpei and Mark for letting us borrow your cool pad.
Congratulations on your film Jackie!!! <3

First Post!
Hello everyone!
With many requests and encouragements from family and friends, I have decided to create a blog dedicating to beauty. I have always been very shy about my work, but I feel that it is time for me to let you in on what I love to do -- making others look and feel beautiful. My goal is to improve and grow as an artist, so any comments and critiques would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Oh Henry!
I visited a chocolate and candy store in the city earlier this week and for the life of me could not decide what I wanted to buy. So I settled for two Oh Henry! bars, one for me and one for Henry.
They're not the best tasting chocolate bars around but at least the wrapper is cool. I got a good larf out of it but felt totally unoriginal when Henry stated people have already bought him those before. Rats!
PS. If you want to see Henry's awesome comedic skills paired with his friend Greg's awesome comedic skills, take a moment to check out their website, Skills In Time.

Wonderland
Today I would like to introduce a new product to the Pannikin Etsy store - 25mm badges! Yes, I bought a badgemaker a few months ago and have gone a little button mad. After a lengthy session of creating these babies, my studio (aka my bedroom) looks like some kind of mini cyclone has ripped through it. But it's totally worth it, because the end result is adorable, if I do say so myself.
This morning I have uploaded the 'Wonderland' series of badges, which is made up of 5 pairs of unique Alice in Wonderland pins, all created with vintage Little Golden Book cutouts. Each set is only $5 US and come packaged all pretty like. (Photos of packing are coming soon, I promise!)
Please keep checking back, as I will be uploading different collections during the week. Some of these include pins made from kawaii Japanese fabric (with owls, squirrels, rabbits and more!), handprinted Japanese paper and of course, more adorable storybook images - think cats, deer houses and sweet little children.
Until then, have yourselves a lovely time. Don't work too hard!
PSST! Spend over $15 in my Etsy store to receive a complimentary 25mm badge, chosen at random. But rest assured that they will be just as cute as the ones for sale. Hey, you could even give it to a friend or relative for extra brownie points!

Lifeline Bookfest
The Brisbane Lifeline Bookfest starts today! I'm going to be there before the doors open, waiting to snatch up a whole heap of Little Golden Books (and other assorted goodies) with my crafted-up nanna trolley. When I return I shall document all my finds, scan some cute illustrations and share them with you lovely lot.
(This deer image is taken from a tin I found at an antique store for only $5 in Newstead.)
Edit: Here I am with my trolley full to the brim with books. My haul included 89 Little Golden Books and 5 other assorted vintage childrens books, which made for a very heavy bag. The wheel actually fell off because of the weight. Oops. I was a little bummed I didn't meet the 100 mark though, but seeing as I bought about 10 other Golden Books in Ipswich earlier in the week it kind of makes up for it.
Did you go to the bookfest? What did you walk away with?

Bee Bear
Nothing excited me more than seeing this sitting on the shelf at Coles for the reduced price of $2.99.
Ingredients are listed in the following order: Sugar, glucose, honey, syrup. Um, okay. So it's not pure honey? Odd, yet a total win in my books, because it tastes almost the same, was cheaper than regular honey and is twice as appealing due to the adorable container it is housed in.

Lost Highway
Last night Henry invited me along to his friend's house, as he was holding a movie night with director David Lynch as the theme for the evening. The two movies being screened were Lost Highway and Eraserhead, however we only stayed to watch the first film (which works out splendidly, as I actually received Eraserhead for Christmas last year.)
If you haven't seen it, I recommend you watch this film. That is, if 'not getting it' doesn't trouble you. A quick bout of IMDB-based research afterwards, and I am only a little closer to properly understanding the plot, thanks to the creative genious that is Lynch. But that's okay, because it has a killer soundtrack, which is something I really enjoyed (being the shallow movie watcher that I am) and will be purchasing later today.

Sneak Peek
Just a quick snap of my bedroom a few weeks after moving. It looks a little differeny since this photo was taken, but I like to document the ever changing inspiration wall above my desk and bed. My favourite part on the wall so far is my small collection of swap cards and posters torn out of Frankie magazine (especially the ones by Ghostpatrol and Sarah McNeil)
